If this article is read from a German perspe...</title><content type='html'>@all&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If this article is read from a German perspective, one can only ask: Why do you not increase taxes (as they are very low in CA)?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In Germany sales taxes is 19%, with no circumvention whatsoever.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A single person, income in the 55-60K range, pays approx. 50% of the income for taxes, mandatory retirement, health and unemployment insurance. At least health and retirement systems are still quite o.k. Families pay less of their income and get additional benefits. In fact it&amp;#39;s already too late, but we are dealing with perception and not reality. The other 46 states and the Federal Govt. are in the same shape as well, and will join CA in the melt down.
