Regardless if this fraud is true or not, it has still failed because the physical gold market is still very small. So why worry about this? The point of the fraud of putting tungstun in gold bars is to make it seem as if there is more physical gold than there really is, but the physical gold market is very small so the fraud of Tungstun in gold bars is failing. I really don&#39;t have enough info, but I am skeptical of this particular bit of news because:<br /><br />1) jewelry makers and industrial users use the LMBA market to buy gold. The last thing those short gold want is for some jewelry maker in India to start panic about Tungsten LMBA bars.<br /><br />2) If there were a lot of go Tungsten bars going around, there would be more evidence of it. Stories in the Chinese press for example.<br /><br />Also, the story of there being Tungsten filled gold bars at fort knox is a bit difficult to believe. I mean, no one ever audits or visits the gold at fort Knox, so why spend the effort to create fake gold bars?<br /><br />Consider this, if there was factual evidence of even one LMBA Tungsten filled bar being discovered anywhere, it would create a panic and drive gold buyers away from LMBA gold. This would be an utter disaster for anyone short gold. <br /><br />There is over 100,000 tons of in the world. Counterfitting even several hundred tons would not make that big an impact on the world gold supply, but it would created the risk of a complete disaster (a gold banking panic).
