However, that doesn&amp;#39;t explain why crops failed in areas that didn&amp;#39;t experience so much rainfall.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It&amp;#39;s the atmosphere, people!  We have put so many toxins into the air from burning coal and oil that it is now poisoning vegetation.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I&amp;#39;ve been posting pictures and links to scientific research at www.witsendnj.blogspot.com.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The trees on the East Coast are all dying from cumulative damage from ozone and other emissions, and it wouldn&amp;#39;t surprise me if it isn&amp;#39;t the underlying cause of sudden aspen decline in the rockies, and sudden oak death in California.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I&amp;#39;ve been writing and calling the federal and state Ag. This will become more important as shortages increase. If confidence decreases that food prices will remain stable and low enough to meet their basic needs, Chinese consumers will become less willing to make large purchases of durable goods.
